Shore Excursions for Baltic Cruise Passengers in Oslo
Oslo, the capital of Norway, is located in the heart of Scandinavia. It is one of the oldest cities in the region and the only one with an urban settlement dating back to the Vikings times. The city is situated between the Oslofjord and beautiful wooded hills.
Taking a city tour you’ll visit the main streets and squares of Oslo and see Oslo City Hall, the house of Parliament, the National Theater and the Royal Residence, Frogner Park containing the world’s famous Vigeland Sculptures designed by Gustav Vigeland. More than 200 sculptures symbolize various stages of human life. You can take pictures in front of Holmenkollen Ski Jump during a short pause before heading to the Viking Ship Museum.
After visiting the museum, our tour continues at the National Art Gallery (free, open Tuesday to Sunday) where you will see breath-taking “Madonna” and “Scream” by Edward Munch.
The rest of the day can be spent roaming the city streets with a guide, shopping or just enjoying a drink before returning to the ship. If you go on a 4-hour Oslo shore tour, you’ll have a detailed excursion inside the Vikings Ship Museum and the Kon-Tiki Museum.
A 5-hour tour also includes a visit to the Open Air Museum.
